We’re excited to announce that we have a new minister!

The Reverend Megan Dowdell will begin her employment with our congregation on August 1, leading Sunday worship for the first time officially on August 4. But you can get acquainted with her THIS MONTH, when she makes an appearance on Sunday, July 21, as a guest minister.

Rev. Megan holds a BA in Society & Health from Simmons College in Boston and an MA in Ethics and Social Theory from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, CA. She is also a doctoral candidate in sociology through the University of California, San Francisco, expected to receive her PhD in 2020

Ordained in May 2019, Rev. Megan received her ministerial training at First Unitarian Universalist Church of San Diego and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. She serves as an Assistant Professor of Ethics and Society at Starr King School for the Ministry, and since 2018, has been an affiliated community minister with Throop Unitarian Universalist Church in Pasadena.

A backpacking enthusiast, Rev. Megan lives in Hollywood with her fiancée, Stefanie (who’s in the television business), a cat named Emerson and a dog named Violet. She loves exploring California and looks forward to becoming better acquainted with the community of Santa Clarita.
