River Rally on September 17, 2022

Come join us for the 27th annual River Rally Clean Up and Environmental Expo. It will take place on Saturday, September 17 from 8 to 11 a.m. This year, volunteers will clean a portion of the Santa Clara riverbed on Wiley Canyon Road, east of Orchard Village Road, off the Via Princessa Bridge.

The River Rally brings more than 1,200 volunteers together each year to clean a portion of the river in order to preserve the river’s natural beauty and protect
the wildlife.

Cleanup volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes and appropriate clothing for picking up debris in the riverbed and are highly encouraged to wear sunscreen and a hat. Water, breakfast, and free giveaways will be provided to registered volunteers, while supplies last. Cleanup supplies such as gloves and trash bags will be provided as well. A free bike valet service will be
provided. Pets are not allowed.

You must pre-register. For email registration go to volunteers@santa-clarita.com or call 661-250-3708.

I recommend you get there early to park. We can meet by the check-in area about 7:45. That gives you time to park, check-in and get your coffee and donut. I feel it’s best to get there a little early to beat the rush. There is a short educational training in small groups. Finally, a kickoff speech by the Mayor.

Hopefully, we can get a group picture. Usually, people go off in different directions looking for trash etc. When you are done, don’t forget to visit the Environmental Expo, which will feature tips on preserving the city’s local watershed, pollution prevention, recycling and more.

If you want to meet with the UU group, text me, Ingrid. I’ll keep a lookout for you. Don’t forget to wear your UU of SCV Shirt!
