Updates to UU of SCV Covid policy

Starting Nov 1st (so the first service where this takes effect is Nov 6th), the UU of SCV Covid policy will be adjusted as follows to align more closely with LA County’s updated (Sept 23, 2022) guidelines and to start the process of “opening up” as other businesses and congregations are doing:

  • The wearing of face masks during services will be optional, but it is encouraged that anyone who wants to wear one do so.
  • We highly recommend that attendees be fully vaccinated (with exceptions as noted below) — and we highly encourage the use of the new bivalent vaccinations — but we will no longer require new attendees to present their vaccination card in order to enter (ie, the honor system).
  • The current existing policy is being continued of allowing those who are medically ineligible for vaccination (whether due to age or medical condition as outlined by LA county) to attend services. This, too, will be on the honor system (we do not want to invade people’s privacy by asking them to prove their medical condition), however, it is IMPORTANT to note: We require/mandate that all individuals who are NOT fully vaccinated MUST wear a mask at all times when indoors at UU of SCV.
  • We will continue the streaming of services via Zoom for those who are not comfortable attending services in person (as well as for those for whom attending from home is simply more convenient).
  • UU of SCV intends to provide staff with a supply of Covid test kits for them to test themselves at home.
  • We will work on providing additional air purification/sterilization during the services.

Prior to the Nov 6th service, the current Covid guidelines will still be in effect, including mandatory wearing of masks during services and showing of vaccination cards.
