The children’s Sunday religious exploration classes, as well as infant/toddler care — which we had been holding every Sunday prior to the Covid shutdown — have not yet been resumed. We hope to get these programs up and running as soon as possible. Until then, we invite children to join us in the Sunday service along with their parents. Below is our approach to religious exploration:

We call it “exploration” rather than education because we explore many faiths and spiritual understandings.

For the adult religious exploration program, we hold periodic multi-session courses throughout the year, each session focused on a particular topic, as well as small-group discussion gatherings based on rotating topics, offering opportunities for adults to explore their beliefs and values in community. Our programs introduce the diversity of beliefs and values and a context for studying issues of concern in our world and to each individual.

Our outlook for children’s religious exploration (when it becomes operational again) is that rather than indoctrinating children, we share their spiritual journey as seekers and provide moral and spiritual grounding through Unitarian Universalist principles:

Our kid-friendly principles:

1st Principle: We believe that each and every person is important.
2nd Principle: We believe that all people should be treated fairly and kindly.
3rd Principle: We believe that we should accept one another and keep on learning together.
4th Principle: We believe that each person must be free to search for what is true and right in life.
5th Principle: We believe that all persons should have a say about the things that concern them.
6th Principle: We believe in working for a peaceful, fair, and free world.
7th Principle: We believe in caring for our planet Earth, the home we share with all living things.

Soul Matters Curriculum — The Religious Exploration team will be utilizing resources and materials from Soul Matters, a Unitarian Universalist curriculum which provides books, poetry, games, meditations, crafts, videos, hymns, and service projects based on monthly themes.
