From the American flag, a cross, or a flaming chalice to a red hat emblazoned with “Make America Great Again”, we use icons to represent ourselves and display what is meaningful to us. These icons may evoke feelings of affiliation or even hatred. What are we expected to do? Should we hide ourselves out of self-protection and preservation or do we display what truly matters?
