“The Church, Post-COVID”

As a vaccine becomes available, we might go back to normal, or “normal” might be something new. The experience of the last year gives us an opportunity to rearrange our lives: how we work, how we socialize, and how we worship. Starting 20 years ago, when I was your minister, UUSCV found creative answers to the question, “How do we do church?” Now we’re challenged to ask again.

Rev. Rick Hoyt-McDaniels has served Unitarian Universalist churches in the Los Angeles area for 23 years. He earned his Master of Divinity degree from Claremont School of Theology in 1998 and was ordained that same year. He first served the Verdugo Hills church, then was our minister from 2001-2010, going on to serve the Los Angeles “First Church” and, most recently, an interim ministry with the church in Long Beach. He enjoys theater, music, the arts, and hiking in the National Parks with his husband. He lives in downtown Los Angeles.
