We strive to provide a family-friendly environment, and your child(ren) are most welcome to join us. An infant changing area can be found in the sanctuary restroom on the right. Privacy for feeding is available in any of several music studio classrooms.
Temporarily, we are not currently holding the Religious Exploration classes or toddler care. We are working toward resuming them soon. Children of all ages are welcome in the Sunday worship service and can choose to participate in singing, the weekly food drive, and the multi-generational message or story.
When classes resume, we call it “exploration” rather than education because we help children explore many faiths and develop their own spiritual path. Our purpose is to provide children with a safe, happy, and meaningful experience on Sunday mornings. Rather than indoctrinating children, we share their spiritual journey as seekers, promoting Unitarian Universalist principles.
It is the policy of our congregation to maintain at least two adult members with each class at all times. In addition, all our facilitators have passed background checks.
Ten minutes before the beginning of the service (at about 10:20 am) in the sanctuary, we hold a time for lifting up the joys and concerns of the congregation and visitors. If you are here at that time, feel free to join us.
Please feel free to sit wherever you are most comfortable.
Our services last about an hour. Elements of a Sunday morning service include:
• Words of welcome
• Lighting a flaming chalice, the symbol of our faith
• Music, both instrumental and vocal, in a variety of styles. Singing! Some of the songs sound traditional but the lyrics may be slightly different to reflect our liberal faith.
•We collect any donations of food, personal care items, and pet food for a local food pantry.
• A meditation or prayer
• Readings—ancient or contemporary
• A sermon given by a professional minister, a guest speaker, or a member of the congregation
• An offering, collecting financial donations for the congregation. On the 3rd Sunday of each month, the collection is for a local charity and/or for a justice cause in the community.
After the Service: We invite you to join us for fellowship after the service. This is a great time to meet our minister and members of our congregation and learn about our social justice programs, upcoming events, and activities. Don’t forget to stop by the Welcome Table to learn more about the Church, sign up for the newsletter, and much more!
We want you to know as much about us as possible before your visit, so if we missed something of importance, please ask.
More Information about Activities/Events: Please check our monthly newsletter The Flame or check with the Welcome Desk at a Sunday service.
